Banana cake Easter 2010

We had a lovely family Easter, both the children were home plus Bobbin (dog). Alice and I baked, knitted, crocheted, made organza flowers and shopped, a bit of mum and daughter bonding. This is the recipe for the Banana Cake we made for Easter, this recipe is great if you want to use up very ripe bananas. For the topping we melted chocolate then decorated it with chocolate animals and Maltesers.

Alice has been home from Uni for about a week now, on Good Friday we went for a family lunch at L'Italiana, situated in French Row near the clock tower. We enjoyed the basic Italian fare, the service was good and we were pleasantly surprised how reasonable the bill was, we would go there again.

Koi Pond

Koi pond application on ipod touch

Ashley just downloaded this application for his ipod touch. Imagine gazing into a pond of crystal water. You run your fingers across the cool surface of the pond. Water ripples away from your touch. The Koi, disturbed, dart away. Only to forget and to swim close to you once more. There are ambient sounds of water and to feed the fish just shake it. It's very calming and it only cost 59p from Apple.

Knitting Alice

Alice Davison

My daughter Alice is at Uni. in Brighton studying textiles specialising in knitting. Alice learnt to knit at junior school, Aboyne Lodge, taught by one of the mums who gave up her time and patience, It paid off, thank you Mrs Loader. One of Alice's projects I paticularily like is based on decay, she took photographs then interpreted the texture and colour using knitting and crochet. I think the colours are very effective, proud mother moment.
