How to Make a Cake Stand for Cupcakes and More! (Ideal for a Wedding)

Glass cake stand

Here's how to create your own fantastic crystal cake stand. A one tier structure would be good to display a cake. Multi tiers would be perfect for a very individual cupcake stand for a wedding, christening or birthday. You could even use it for a floral arrangement or as a tiered fruit bowl!

Jacky's Cupcakes

Yesterday I had a very pleasant morning with Susie and Jacky, we decorated cupcakes. Jackie is going to make her daughter's cupcake 'wedding cake' and wanted some ideas for the individual cakes. We had a play with all the decorations Jacky had bought, some worked and some didn't in the end we settled on a few designs. Jacky photographed the cakes and will recreate them just before the wedding, making about 25 in each design. And our reward for this hard work was a lovely lunch cooked by Jacky.

I made Alice a 'cupcake' apron. If you want to make one similar this is what you do: Take an apron, you can buy or make one. Print off the 'cupcake' attachment. For the applique use *Bondaweb (Wonder Under) ironed onto scraps of cotton material. Cut out the words and image and pin them to the scraps of fabric, cut these out. Position the words on the apron. Following the Bondaweb (Wonder Under) instructions iron them in place. Using a zigzag stitch on the sewing machine sew round the letters and image.

We went to a 50th birthday party last night and I thought you might like to see the cupcake idea Sue, the birthday girl, created. I was very tempted to rearrange the 5 to a 6! Can you imagine the heat all those candles generated?

After knitting the cupcakes I thought I might make up my own free knitting pattern for a mug. I did toy with the idea of a chintzy teacup and saucer but that was a pattern too far!
