It's our landmark on Google Earth, the big white oblong. Today we kept faith with the map and put it up.

As well as the usual Saturday market in St Albans there was the added bonus of an Italian market. Here are photos of some of the produce they were purveying, a little taste of Italy.

Dancing in the Street

St Michaels

Last night it was St Michaels Street folk evening. The street was closed to traffic for the evening so both   dancers and onlookers could enjoy themselves. Four pubs in the street had live bands, we saw the Swanvesta Social Club playing at the Black Lion, a local band that have a loyal following and deservedly so with their inauthentic sound of Cuba, latin beat with just a hint of St Albans!

The event was organised as part of St Albans Festival, it had the feel of a village fete. lots of entertainment for the children, a band playing live music and stalls. There was a variety  stalls selling cakes, books, plants, tombola, an interesting stall selling vintage objet d'art, I bought two scarves one a souvenir of Paris. There was also a very informative stall  selling honey, organised by the St Albans Beekeepers' Association.

Odeon

This article has been written by Ashley, it's  an observation about St Albans but I think its sentiment could apply to most towns.

I wanted to highlight an issue regarding the seeming inevitability of demolition and development in St. Albans. There are many cases here where sites are marked for demolition, and no matter the levels of campaigning and the scale of the protest, the plans of the developers always go through in the end. It appears only to be a question of time.

Had a nice walk in Verulamium park this morning the wildfowl are busy! We counted about 8 Herons on one of the islands in the middle of the lake. Stopped for coffee at The Inn On The Park. Verulamium museum was busy with excitable school parties.
