Bridlington
Just got back from a few days in the north of England, visiting relatives. We paid a quick visit to my sister in Worksop. For posterity I took a photograph of the street we grew up on. Next we went to stay with Steve's mum in South Cave, a village in East Yorkshire. One of the days there we spent at the seaside, at Bridlington on the East Yorkshire coast. We have fond memories of this very cosy traditional English seaside town. We holidayed there as children with buckets and spades and as a teenager it was my first holiday without parents. Later at art college we had trips there with sketch books and cameras. We saw Eric Clapton at the Spa theatre in August 1976. I remember he sang 'I Shot the Sheriff' because we had seen Bob Marley sing the same song a couple of months before at Leeds university. I am pleased to say Bridlington has changed very little over the years. The beaches are nice and they still have donkey rides. The fish and chips come with mushy peas. Old fashioned butchers and bakers shops sell Yorkshire delicacies like Yorkshire curd tart. And music wise the Kooks are playing at the Spa theater on the 28 November. Ashley and Alice like it too.
I picked up some old knitting patterns on my travels. The balaclava is most attractive! Who could pull that look off?
