Pattern with dimensions
Layout of pattern, I used pinking shears to cut out bunting but ordinary scissors will do
Inkjet Iron-on Transfers, with lettering is reversed. Follow instructions that are included with he transfer pack but I reduce the time it states you should iron it for, I think 20 seconds but do a test sample
Follow instructions that are included with he transfer pack but I reduce the time it states you should iron it for, I think 20 seconds but do a test sample also they advise a 5mm border around image but I don't bother.
Place cut out letters face down and iron
When the transfer is cool remove backing paper
I used 3 meters of 6mm wide black ribbon but you could use any colour
I used a wide zigzag stitch to attach triangles to ribbon. Leave a length of ribbon either end of the bunting for ties
I made this bunting using different designs of blue fabric and wider spacing of the triangles
This is the design for the Happy Birthday bunting as a bonus I have included a robot and heart motif. You could use them to decorate bunting or on a T-shirt. To download this image see instructions at end of the main text.

After going to the Larks in the Parks I  was struck how simple but effective the bunting was that decorated the stalls. Something so simple says celebration, it adds a carnival feel to a party, BBQ, or birthday.  I thought I would do a tutorial for a birthday bunting. I have designed  the HAPPY BIRTHDAY letters to be downloaded and used in conjunction with Ryman's Inkjet Iron-on Transfers for light T-shirts. I have also included an alphabet in case you might like to add a child's name or just make a bunting with a name on, this would brighten up a child's room or playroom. For the birthday bunting I have used plain white cotton, this shows the design to it's best advantage making the lettering clear to read. With a little imagination the variations are endless, altering the size, shape, colour or spacing can make it a decoration for any occasion. Get the fairground look by using bold plain primary colours; Kath Kidson fabric for the Country Living look; red, white and blue says patriotic; black and orange for halloween; red and green Christmas or just white for a wedding. And it can be used time and time again. To download the designs right click on the link attachments below and 'save' to your computer.
