Car Boot Sale St Albans Rugby Ground, Smallford

Car boot at St Albans rugby ground Smallford

I have had a nice few days. Mary was over from Sweden, this was an excuse for feasting with the girls! On Thursday we sat in Fred's garden enjoying a delicious lunch  she had prepared. Mary had brought  with her all manner of Swedish confectionary for us to try. On Friday evening we had an Indian takeaway from the Indian Garden on Catherine Street (I recommend). The venue this time was Susie's lovely garden. The dessert course was fresh fruit supplied by Susie, pear flan from Fred and from Mary more Swedish cakes.

On Saturday we decided to do a car boot sale, I haven't done one of these in years. We went to the St Albans rugby ground at Smallford, it kicked off at 10am. This seemed like a civilized day and time. Their next one, if anyone is interested, is on the 9th August. I had forget about the annoying vultures that descend on you for the best pickings and circle while you are still unpacking the car, but that aside it was a pleasant enough experience. Ashley was selling the last remnants of his drum kit, cymbals and stool. He got talking to an old drummer. He named dropped a few bands he had been in, Hawkwind, Argent, Zombies but they were lost on Ash. I joined in the conversation said I had heard of them, with my interest shown he threw in Vince Hill, did I look like a Vince Hill fan? Ash sold a lot of his old  Mutant Turtle and Mask figures and some skateboarding stuff and I got rid of some old tut and nicky nacky noos! But I was tempted to buy a bag of wool for 70p. And we came away with this piece of shattering news, told to us by a seasoned car booter, the bottom has fallen out of the video market.
