First Week in November

Remembrance Day

On Tuesday I went to the Flea Market at the Town Hall with Susie, bumped into lots of people we knew. Sue Gaffney was selling her lovely handbags and Jo Copestick selling stylish home accessories. My friend Angie and I have decided to have a stall together at the Flea Market. This has galvanized me into making mode. So for the next few weeks I will be a sewing-knitting-crocheting-painting-sticking-monkey! If you are in St Albans on THURSDAY 4 DECEMBER come and say hello. On Wednesday I arranged to meet Daryl in town for Lunch. She suggested the Portuguese Cafe in Catherine Street but to our surprise it had closed down, that didn't last long! We then plumped for Carluccios. They do a really nice bean soup and we had a selection of Italian breads. They were presented in a rustic bread tin, nice touch. Daryl and I had a catch up. Daryl told me about their disastrous trip in the camper van. It snowed, the van had no heating and they woke in the morning like two frozen things! No one expected snow in October. Friday I went to Watford. The streets outside the Harlequin Center are looking very sad, there are an awful lot of empty shops. While in Watford I picked up an old craft book called Cut Woolly Toys. It uses the same principle as pom poms but instead of using a cardboard circle they use different cardboard shapes to wind the wool round. The animals created in the book are really well modeled, I doubt it would be easy to reach that standard. I also saw a book that gave a name to the buttons I had made, Dorset buttons here . With this knowledge I googled it and found the British Button Society website here
