Gardeners' World Live
I went to the Gardener's World Live! at the NEC Birmigham yesterday. I had two complimentary tickets as a runner-up of the RSPB Moments photographic competition. The photograph of the caterpillars was going to be showcased, with others, at a seminar. Before I went I thought I should really identify what type of butterfly the caterpillars would develop into. I did some research and to my surprise they are not caterpillars but sawfly larvae. Doesn't sound so nice does it? The exhibition was held inside and out with a few show gardens and lots of buying opportunities for plants and all things related to gardens. I did see the garden studio I would really like, it had no resemblance to a swiss chalet or overgrown shed, as so many do. I must admit I have not watched Gardeners world on TV recently, I was trying to workout why and I think it's because Monty Don didn't enthuse me, I found him melancholy. I want gardening to be a happy pastime. Daryl totally disagrees with me on this subject, but then she thinks he's eye candy! There were a few Gardeners World presenters at the show, Rachel de Thame speaking about her Chelsea garden design, Pippa Greenwood discussing garden pests and Carol Kleine doing a piece to camera in the RHS floral marquee. Carol is what I consider to be a passionate gardener and her enthusiasm is infectious. Alan Tichmarsh wasn't there on the day I went, so no photos of the housewives favourite!
