This egg cosy is a bit of nostalgia, a smaller version of a 1950's tea cosy.

1st row *K8 MS, draw C across back of work to 2 cm (3/4 in) and K8 in C, draw MS across back of work in same manner and rep from * to end.Twist MS over C before starting next row

2nd row * K8 C, bring MS across front of work, draw up 2 cm (3/4 in) and take to back of work, bring C to front of work, K8 MS, bring C across front of work, draw up to 2 cm (3/4 in), take to back of work bring MS to front of work; rep from * to end.Rep these 2 rows for 10 cm (4 in), ending with the right side facing for next row.

Shape top

1st row Keeping pattern correct * K2togtbl (Knit 2 together through back of loops), K4, K2tog (Knit 2 together); rep from * to end.

2nd row * K2togtbl, K2, K2tog; rep from * to end.

3rd row * K2togtbl, K2tog; rep from * to end

So sweet! I have a pair of cosies I bought from our local car boot sale - they have a whole cluster of pompoms on top - actually, much too nice to put on eggs!
