Unfortunately, due to illness, this shop is now closed.
A new gift shop has just opened in George Street, St Albans, it's not just full of gorgeous gifts and cards but knitting yarns too. Katrina, who owns the shop, told me she hopes to specialise in items handmade by local craftspeople as well as the quirky gift and toy lines she already stocks. In the future, with stocking the knitting yarns, Katrina would like to set up opportunities for knitters and stitchers to get together. St Albans is sadly lacking in wool shops I think Rose and Dylan is a much needed gap filler. They stock yarns by Debbie Bliss and Silk Garden by Noro, a rather luxurious hand dyed Japanese yarn, along with knitting needles and a selection of designer yarn knitting books. I recommend you pop in and say hello. You will get a warm welcome.

Having found this shop via the web I made a special journey to St Albans only to discover it no longer seems to exist.
If it has closed down then the web site should be removed or updated to save others from wasted journeys.
Dear Marshall,
I'm so sorry you had a wasted journey to Rose & Dylan but Pom Pom Emporium, my personnel website,is a chronicle of my life and times so I am loathe to remove posts. I have now flagged up it is closed at the beginning of the post, unfortunately the owner was very ill and unable to carry on with the business
I noticed the St Albans Ravelry group mentioning this shop - must remember to pop in. What shop has it replaced? Another heads up - the WI HQ in the High St in Wheathampstead (where the radiator shop used to be) are planning to have a Knit and crochet group starting up soon - I've been asked to pop in and help (my mum is on the Craft committee for Herts - I tend to get roped into loads of things via her) I'll give you exact details when I know them.
Finally catching up with some blog reading.
Not come across this new shop yet, but will definitely check it out - if I can get the buggy in though! If people are looking for wool shops in St Albans, please remember that Fashion 'n' Fabrics on Beech Road does sell wool. I know they don't have a huge selection, but since Allison's shut on Hatfield Road more people do seem to be going there for yarn.
Nice to hear from you Mr C! Here's hoping you can get the buggy in!
Thanks for the info...we really need somewhere to purchase wool in St Albans. Just taught myself to crochet, not bad for a left hander, and am collecting patterns so need somewhere local for the wool.
regards
Karen
Oh thanks for the heads up to this new shop Anjie - I'll have to look out for it next visit to St Albans. And I agree wool shops seem to be few and far between. :)
Just as knitting and crochet made a resurgence 'old school' wool shops seemed to close, my theory is the proprietors reached retirement age, leaving a gap in the market
