Snake's Head Fritillary

One of my favourite flowers, Snake's Head Fritillary, is out in the garden at the moment. I love their painterly chequer board petals. I have always liked the water colour painting, of the flower, by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, it's beautiful. Last year we were plagued by the scarlet lily beetle, it decimated them. I think the winter snow, we had, may have killed off the lily beetle, as they are originally from warmer climes.

That is a gorgeous flower! I've never seen one before.

I think it will be out at the weekend

So you can tell where my interests lie!

I know the Mackintosh painting well, but have never even heard of the name of the flower before .... and now I see how well he's captured it in the painting.

Will it still be out at the weekend I wonder?

I am going to try a comment again - my past ones don't seem to be accepted by your system? It looks like a beautiful espresso pot - how is it working out?

What an amazing flower!
I wonder if it grows in the US...
If not, I could always get a copy of the lovely Mackintosh print.
