Trip to Hornsea

Last week we went away for a few days and the weather was very kind! We went to visit family in East Yorkshire. On our way up to Yorkshire we broke our journey and stopped off at my sisters for lunch, my sister had made some fantastic strawberry cupcakes, I must get the recipe from her. It was Alice's birthday too. On Wednesday we had a day trip to the seaside town of Hornsea, we were at Art college in Hull so know and think fondly of this part of the world. I love this section of the Yorkshire coast Whitby, Scarborough, Bridlington and all the little coastal towns in between, they have an old fashioned charm about them. At lunch we sat on the promenade eating fish and chips looking out across a sandy beach to the North sea, perfect. But more perfect was visiting the Hornsea museum which includes the Hornsea Pottery museum.  We particularly like the Hornsea Pottery designs from the late 50's through to the 70's, at the moment we are collecting the 1970's design Heirloom. In a couple of charity shops we found and bought some pieces of Hornsea pottery to add to our collection. Happy days!

Ooh I've come all over with a waive of nostalgia. In Newcastle so might have a day out to Hornsea and relive the days of our youth!

The town hasn't really changed but now they have a very nice, sympathetically done, promenade. You would like the museum just check the days it is open, Mondays it is closed. Whitby would be nice too!

I've already looked at the museum website as I thought it sounded really interesting. If I don't have the time while I'm here this visit, it will go on my 'to do' list!
