Wayzgoose

Knitted doll

It's been a busy week hardly time to blog! On Tuesday and Thursday my friend Sue and I went to a couple of wool/haberdashery shops both were Aladdin's caves stuffed to their rafters with all things crafty, never a cheap place to visit just too tempting!

On Friday Angie and I had a day in Hichin, bought another glass cake stand, a classic T. G. Green mixing bowl, to replace the one I broke and fabric from the market.

On Saturday we went to a car boot sale and on my hunt for knitted toys I bought a doll (with a quirky naive face, just what I was looking for!). I also bought an army of tiny hand painted Russian dolls and a white enamel bucket, to put plants in. What has been really time consuming is gardening, mostly cleaning out pots and planting them up. I've decided to put lettuces in window boxes, hoping to discourage slugs by putting the window boxes on the first floor. I'm hoping we can just pick lettuce leaves as required, well that's the plan.

I must mention on Fraiing Anairam had the word 'wayzgoose' this brought back memories. When I worked for a publisher in London once a year we would have a wayzgoose, all the staff from the publishers plus the printers would go on a day out paid for by the company. The best one was a trip to France for lunch. The worst one was a boat trip on the Thames, over twelve hours held captive with work colleagues! It was once used on Call My Bluff and I knew the correct definition, only time I did.

It's Alice's 21st birthday today, happy birthday Alice!

Just to say that today I blogged about my two knitted dolls which I found at our local car boot sale. I am sure they are related to your doll! - maybe cousins?

Car boot sales - my best! The little doll is so sweet - actually a few car boot sales back I bough two cuties - and they were super cheap - came to 10 Rands - which is less than a pound! I might put a picture on my blog later. I am glad wayzgoose brought back good memories - but I have to agree with you - 12 hours with colleagues (especially SOME colleagues) on a boat must be hell!
